Default E/N Builds?

My wife and I were discussing this, anyone have any ideas for a good E/N build?

I have attempted this type of thread on 2 different occasions, and both nearly started seperate riots.

The forum populous believes that the E/N is a weak blend, though I believe otherwise. Thus, the reason for your empty thread due to no one wanting to play a mixed ele that isn't a monk or a mesmer uber nuker.

Invest in death, and you an make an interesting mix of elemental/MM destruction. Invest in Blood, and you can double as a battery for monks while still being Ele Almighty. For a time I mixed SS from curses with Ele spells for a rather effective mix.

But,if you're looking for these guys to endorse the E/N, you're barking up the wrong tree.

If you don't want a maximally powerful build, sure. E.g., you could take an elementalist build with more energy than it knows what to do with and throw a few minions in just for laughs.

But it's tough to envision something optimal that's E/N because:

1. Soul Reaping is a great primary attribute
2. Extra attribute points are VERY valuable when MMing, even more so than in most other lines
3. More generally, it's hard to overcome the loss of the use of runes, hats, etc. in necro line

As for your beliefs, Darkpower Alchemist -- it's difficult to reconcile them with actual facts.

Professions can be combined in interesting ways to create nice builds (and annoying) builds. Here are two spells you can use...

1. Virulence (Elite Death Magic Necro spell)
2. Ebon Hawk (regular Earth Magic Ele spell)

You can put 12 Death, 16 Earth, and rest in energy storage. You should know how to fill the rest of the spell bar.

Hehe...these 2 are sufficient to annoy any foe!

You just did by stating the above. You just told the guy that you can't see an "optimal" use of the E/N blend. My whole post was just proven to be right, at least once...by you.

My point is that E/N is a weak blend, contrary to your belief.

However, unlike some people, I don't think it's necessary to always play the strongest possible build.

Actually, I don't think we're far apart here ...

I've been thinking about this combo recently, but I don't have an Elementalist yet (I do have a Mo/E).

Anyway, these are the things I was thinking of:

E/N

Spinal Shivers/Shivers Of Dread
Conjure Frost
Frozen Burst
Ice Spear/Ice Spikes
Water Attunement
Water Trident (e)/Shatterstone (e)
Aura Of Restoration
Rez Signet

Water Magic: 12 (11 + 1)
Energy Storage: 12 (10 +1 +1)
Curses: 12

I think that will work.

Or...

Lingering Curse (e)
Parasitic Bond
Vapor Blade
Malestrom
Water Attunement
Aura Of Restoration
Glyph of Lesser Energy
Rez Signet

It's a fun build when you need the snare, but how often do you need the snare?
